The tangent of a circle is a line perpendicular to the radius,
to calculate the tangent of the circle, follow these steps.
1. Measure the radius of the circle AO.
2. Measure the line of tangency BO: the line intersects both the tangent line (AB) and the radius of the circle (AO).
3. Use the pythagorean theorem to find the length of the tangent line:
AB2 = BO2-AO2
while
AB = tangent line.
BO = line of tangency.
AO = the radius of the circle.
