The surface area of a rectangular prism formula is SA=2(lw+hw+lh). l=length, h=height, w=width. A rectangular prism is solid three dimensional object, it either has six flat surfaces are rectangles or four rectangles with two squares. A rectangular prism has total 12 lengths. There are three different lengths which are length, width and height that we can find to use for calculating its surface area. When there is two lengths are equal, it will make a square prism. To find surface area of rectangular prism, we calculate six area of different rectangle sides and add them together.
Following is how to calculate surface area of a rectangular prism with length 2, width 1 and height 1.5.
Surface Area = 2x(2x1+2x1.5+1x1.5) =13.
Surface area of a cube formula is SA=6L². L=length. A cube is three dimensional object similar to a rectangular prism but has all equal surfaces and length. To find the surface area of a cube, we need to calculate one of the square base first which is A=L². and then multiply by six times because a cube has 6 equal surfaces, then we get the surface area of a cube SA=6L².
Following is how to calculate surface area of a cube with length 1.5.
Surface Area=6x1.5x1.5=13.5.
The surface area of cylinder formula is SA=2πrh+2πr². π≈3.14159. r=radius of circle. A cylinder is one of most common three dimensional shapes. It has 3 faces with two circles and one rectangle. To find the surface area of cylinder, we calculate two area of circle 2πr² and one area of rectangle 2πrh first, and the add them together 2πr²+2πrh.
Following is how to calculate surface area of a cylinder with radius 1.5 and height 2.
Surface Area = 2xπx1.5x2+2xπ1.5x1.5 ≈32.98672.
The surface area of a sphere formula is SA=4πr². π≈3.14159. r=radius of sphere. A sphere is a very common perfectly round three dimensional object. It has no edges and vertices. Ball is an example of sphere. To find a surface area of a sphere, we need to find out the radius of sphere first, and then calculate its surface area 4πr².
Following is how to calculate surface area of a sphere with radius 1.5.
Surface Area = 4xπx1.5²≈28.27433.
Surface area of a square pyramid formula is SA=L²+2L√(L²/4+H²). L=length, H= height is the height from apex to the end of pyramid. A square pyramid is solid three dimensional object, its a pyramid with square base. It has five sides, a square surface and four triangle surfaces which makes it a pentahedron. To find the surface area of a square pyramid, we calculate its base area of square L² and then add the area of four triangles 2L√(L²/4+H²).
Following is how to calculate surface area of a square pyramid with base length 2 and height 1.5.
Surface Area = 2x2+2x2x√(2x2/4+1.5x1.5)≈11.21.
