Total Cost |
Paint calculator is based on there are 4 walls (with or without ceiling area coverage) in a room,
less the windows or doors size, that is the total area needed to be covered for painting.
For example, if a room's length is 12 feet, the width is 10 feet, height is 7 feet.
the two walls' areas are 12 x 7, and the other two walls' areas are 10 x 7.
The ceiling area is 12 x 10.
The total area without ceiling coverage will be 2 x 12 x 7 + 2 x 10 x 7 = 308 Feet².
The total area with ceiling coverage will be 308 + 12 x 10 = 428 Feet².
You can also include the door size or window size for a more accurate estimation.
The standard door size is 80" x 32", 80" x 30", 80" x 28", 80" x 36".
If you have a door size 80" x 30",
the less coverage for door is
80x 30 = 2400 inches² =2400/144=16.67 feet².
for the above example, a room with ceiling coverage is
428 Feet² - 16.67 Feet² = 411.33 Feet².
Paint Coverage per Gallon
Usually, 5 gallons of paint cover up to 2000 Feet², and 1 gallon covers up to 400 Feet²,
so if there are 2500 Feet² of the area that needs to cover for painting, it is calculated as
2500 / 400 = 6.25 gallons.
