Brick per Square Foot |
The bricks calculation formula is calculated by brick size with mortar and wall area.
Divide the wall area by brick size and the mortar used between bricks is the number of bricks for the wall.
Measure the wall size, and multiply the wall length by the width.
If the wall length is 5 feet, the width is 7 feet.
then the size of the wall is 5 x 7 = 35 feet².
Multiply the brick length plus mortar jointness and brick height plus mortar jointness.
For example, the standard brick size is 8" x 2.25" x 3.625".
The standard mortar jointness thickness is 0.375 inches or 0.9525 centimeters.
8" + 0.375" = 8.375" (brick length with mortar), and
2.25" + 0.375" = 2.625" (brick height with mortar).
8.375" x 2.625" ≈ 22 inches² ≈ 0.153 feet².
So the total bricks needed is calculated below:
35 feet² / 0.153 feet² ≈ 230 bricks.
Rricks per square foot is
calculated as 1 feet² for the wall area.
for the above example.
1feet² / 0.153 feet² = 6.5 bricks per square foot.
