Following is a board foot formula that shows you how to calculate board feet of lumber.
Board foot (inches) = (length x width x thickness)÷144
Board foot (feet) = (length x width x thickness)÷12
For example, the board foot of a 2 inches width, 4 inches thick, and 8 inches length lumber is
(2 x 4 x 8) ÷ 144 = 0.44.
