To calculate how many deck boards you need, first calculate the size for the deck, it is calculated as length multiplied by width.
Then calculate the size of the decking board, as length multiplied by width.
The size of the deck divided by the size of the deck board is the total number of deck boards
you need for the deck.
For example, if the decking board you use is 5 feet by 6 inches,
the decking board size is 360 sq inches or 2.5 sqft.
For the size of a 500 sqft deck, the number of deck boards need is 500/2.5=200.
