Hooke's law is a theory of elasticity, when a force is applied to a spring, it makes the spring compressed or extend to a certain length,
therefore it's also called the spring constant.
Spring displacement is the difference between the initial spring and final spring length.
For example, if the final spring length is 1 meter, and the initial spring length is 0.2 meters, the spring displacement is 0.8 meters.
Hooke's law formula is
F=-kx
while k is the spring constant, and x is the spring displacement.
The result is negative because the force needed for the spring to go in the opposite direction to its original length.
