To calculate power to weight ratio, simply divide the vehicle's power by its weight.
Usually, horsepower is the standard unit of a vehicle's engine power.
For example, if a vehicle's horsepower is 200 hp, and the car weight is 4000 pounds,
the power to weight is calculated as
200/4000 = 0.5 hp/lbs.
Hp/lbs is referred to as horsepower per pound.
Convert horsepower per pound to kilowatt per kilogram
kilowatt per kilogram is also a common unit.
1 kilowatt equals 1.341 horsepower and 1 kilogram equals 2.205 lbs.
To convert horsepower per pound to kilowatt per kilogram, divide by 1.341 and then multiply by 2.205,
therefore divide horsepower per pound by 0.6082 to get kilowatt per kilogram.
For example,
0.05 hp/lb = 0.05/0.6082 = 0.0822 kW/kg.
